Carolina Hurricanes Sign Andrei Svechnikov to Massive Extension

The Carolina Hurricanes have announced they have signed forward Andrei Svechnikov to a massive 8-year contract extension worth $62 million dollars, $7.75 million annually.

The Russian forward has taken Carolina by storm, since arriving as the 2nd pick at the 2018 draft. He's developing into one of the best power forwards in the game and this contract could become a huge steal down the line. Last season Svech recorded 42 points in 55 games and this season in an 82-game schedule, could be north of 70 points.

So far in 205 NHL games, the 21-year-old has recorded 140 points and another 20 points in 26 Stanley Cup Playoff games. He's the type of player you build teams around and the Carolina Hurricanes are lucky to have Svechnikov in the fold long-term.
