Chicago Blackhawks: 2 Players Who Will Bounce Back Next Season
With the off-season starting to slow down a bit, we now have a better idea of every team's roster going into next season. Of course there will be other moves, but the craziness from the Expansion Draft and first day of free agency is officially done.
In this segment, we will be taking a look at two players from each NHL team who are set to bounce back next season. Sometimes players will have down seasons, but end up completely turning it around in the following one. This will inevitably happen for this upcoming year, too.
Let's take a look at the Chicago Blackhawks in this one. They had one of the busiest off-seasons out of every single team, so they certainly are worth keeping an eye on. It is clear that they want to find themselves back into the playoffs, but for that to have a real chance of occurring, they need these two players to step up their games next season.
Dylan Strome F: Dylan Strome struggled to contribute offensively this season. In 40 games, he had nine goals and 17 points, which is very low for his standards. After being traded to the Blackhawks from the Arizona Coyotes during the 2018-19 season, he registered 51 points in just 58 games. He followed that up with a 38-point campaign in as many games, too. Therefore, he is capable of being a quality top-six forward and should be able to bounce back. Keep in mind, he is only 24-years-old still.
Seth Jones D: The Blackhawks traded for and then signed Seth Jones to an eight-year extension that starts after this season. It is great that they now have a top-pair defenseman, but Jones did have his issues this season. In 56 games with Columbus, he scored five goals and had 28 points, but also was a -18. He was playing for a struggling Blue Jackets team, so that played a role in that last statistic. However, when looking at his past seasons, it is apparent that he is capable of producing more. Thus, do not be surprised if he has a stronger year on his new team this upcoming season.
