Columbus Blue Jackets Sign Zac Rinaldo

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed feisty winger Zac Rinaldo to a one-year, two-way contract.

Rinaldo is primarily known for his aggressive style of play, which of course, has gotten him in trouble in the past when he's taken it too far. With the Blue Jackets, there is a good chance that he will continue to be a depth player. He also could end up playing in the AHL, but with them having a rebuild roster, it would not be surprising if he ends up being one of Columbus' extra forwards.

Over the last two seasons, Rinaldo has played for the Calgary Flames. He only suited up in four games with them this season and failed to record a point. In 2019-20, he scored three goals and had five total points in 19 games. He also racked up the penalty minutes that season, as he managed to get 34 in that little action.

Rinaldo is most remembered for his days with the Philadelphia Flyers, but he also has played for the Boston Bruins, Arizona Coyotes and Nashville Predators. In 374 career games, he has 18 goals and 42 total points. His penalty minutes are the most noteworthy of his stats, as he has a total of 758.

Nonetheless, this is a minor depth move by Columbus.
