Detroit Red Wings Extend Adam Erne

The Detroit Red Wings have signed Adam Erne to a two-year extension. It will have an average annual value of $2.1 million.

Erne had a breakout year with the Red Wings this past season. In 45 games, he scored 11 goals and recorded 20 points. It was a significant increase from the season before, as he only had five points in 56 games. He will be looking to build off of his strong season and continue to be a productive bottom-six forward. Yet, he is most effective when it comes to his overall tenacity, as he can be an imposing figure with his physical play.

The Red Wings originally acquired Erne during the 2019 off-season from the Tampa Bay Lightning for their 2020 fourth-round pick. With the rebuilding Red Wings, he has cemented himself a true spot in this league.

In 216 career NHL games, the 26-year-old has 26 goals and 52 points.
