Detroit Red Wings Re-Sign Key Forward
The Detroit Red Wings have re-signed Jakub Vrana to a three-year, $15.75 million contract. It will carry an average annual value of $5.25 million.
Vrana came to Detroit from the Washington Capitals in the Anthony Mantha trade this past season. He definitely left a fantastic first impression, as he scored eight goals and had 11 points in 11 games. The Red Wings certainly are hoping he continue to contribute at such a strong level moving forward. He also may be the perfect winger for Dylan Larkin because the latter struggled to produce offense last season.
The Red Wings have zero issues financially, so this contract holds very little risk. Keep in mind, they are in the middle of a rebuild, so it is a win that they were able to lock up Vrana for more than just next season. It will be interesting to see how he plays for the entirety of the deal.
