Edmonton Oilers Forward Heading To Sweden

The Edmonton Oilers will not be bringing back forward Patrick Russell. The 28-year-old has instead signed a two-year contract with the Linkoping HC in the SHL

Russell has primarily been a depth forward for the Oilers, but handled the role pretty well. Although he was never an offensive juggernaut, he did play decent defensively and was simply a hard worker. He was limited to just eight games this past season with them and recorded two assists. In his complete tenure with Edmonton, he suited up in 59 games and had seven total assists.

Russell played his junior days with Linkoping HC, so it should be a nice reunion for him. Although his NHL career was not long, he has the chance to have a stronger career back in Sweden.
