Edmonton Oilers Re-Sign Young Forward
The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed forward Tyler Benson to a one-year, two-way contract. It will pay him $750,000 at the NHL level.
Benson was drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the second-round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. He's been a dominant force in the AHL since the 2018-19 season. This year was his best one to date, though, as he scored 10 goals and had 36 points in as many games. Him producing at a point-per-game pace at the AHL level is something the Oilers are surely paying attention to.I N K E D ✍️

Benson also started this past season on a loan with the GC Kusnacht Lions of the SL. While playing overseas, he scored two goals and recorded 19 points in just 15 games. That is pretty notable production to say the least.
Benson last played at the NHL level during the 2019-20 season and it was only his experience in the league. In seven games, he recorded an assist. He will be fighting for a spot with the big-league club this season. Based on how well he did last season in two different leagues, perhaps this will be the year where the 23-year-old makes that permanent jump.
