Hilary Knight Becomes The All-Time Leading Scorer At Women's World Championships

History was made at the Women's World Championships today. The USA's Hilary Knight became the all-time leading goal scorer in WWC history, scoring a goal in the second period as part of a 6-0 USA victory over Russia. Knight passes former U.S. star Cammi Granato, now holding the record at 45 goals all time. Knight is just 32 years of age.

Knight tied the all-time record just one game ago in a 3-0 win over Finland and looked to continue her scoring streak as she headed into today's match. Less than 4 minutes into the second period, Knight pounced on a loose rebound in the slot and snapped a shot home, putting the US up by 2. She will look to add to her totals on Thursday when the Americans play Canada.

This is Knight's 11th appearance at the Women's World Championships, but this total is even more impressive given that she didn't score in her first two stints with the U.S. team. In her third go-round however, she scored 7 goals in 5 games. Knight has also represented the USA in three Olympic Games and will be on the roster again in Beijing next February. She has 6 goals and 17 points in 15 games at the Olympics. Congratulations to Hilary on achieving this milestone!
