KHL Team Says NO to Kirill Kaprizov

In one of the worst bluffs in sports history, the KHL wants no part of Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov for the 2021-22 season. The Calder trophy award winner from last season was using this is a negotiation tactic with Wild general manager Bill Guerin and let's just say it didn't work.

Kaprizov was reportedly set to join CSKA Moscow and wanted to put some pressure on Guerin but as the GM stated immediately after the news dropped, he was never concerned. The team in Russia had no roster spots left and were against the salary cap, so it never really made sense.

The Wild and Kaprizov continue to have dialogue on a new contract, but at this point it doesn't appear to be close at all. Kaprizov is 24, and enjoyed himself an amazing outbreak season in 2020-21. Right now the Wild have roughly $13 million in cap space and it's likely to the two sides come in around $7 million for next season.
