Latest Details on the Return of Jonathan Toews
The Chicago Blackhawks have won the summer as the team made several big moves heading into next season. The likes of Seth Jones and Marc-Andre Fleury are two household names coming in, but the return of captain Jonathan Toews certainly takes the cake. The Blackhawks announced at this point, they do expect Toews to return in 2021-22, but the exact timelines have not been confirmed.
Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman confirmed over the week that he is hopeful Toews will be playing next season after missing a season due to illness. Bowman had this to say to the media recently:
Same answer I gave the other day which is, we're all hopeful that he continues on his path and training and feeling better. Nothing's derailed that. But with what he's gone through, we don't know where it's going to be. So here we are today, things are looking good and that's our thought moving forward
In 2019-20 when Toews last played he tallied 18 goals and 60 points in 70 games. With the influx of youth talent in Chicago, adding Toews along with the likes of Fleury and Jones could go a long way for the Blackhawks. Expect the team to have a massive season, especially if their captain is in the lineup sooner than later.
