Los Angeles Kings: 2 Prospects Who Should Make The Team Next Season

Having a strong prospect pool is such an important thing, as it helps determine the future success of all NHL franchises. Although it is always nice to be competitive now, things changes rapidly and it truly is a young man's league. Therefore, it feels right to start a 32-team segment covering them. During it, we will be looking at two prospects from every NHL franchise who could become NHLers next season.

In this article, we will be focusing on the Los Angeles Kings. They sport one of the strongest prospect pools in the entire league, so there are plenty of options to choose from. These two specific players, though, seem to have the best shot of making their roster next season. The Kings could be on the verge of becoming a playoff team again, as they also added Phillip Danault, Viktor Arvidsson and Alexander Edler this off-season.

Quinton Byfield C: Quinton Byfield will surely get more NHL playing time this season. The 18-year-old suited up in six games with the Kings this past season and recorded an assist. He also had eight goals and 20 points in 32 games with the Ontario Reign. His large size and strong two-way play should be enough for him to get a lengthy chance with the team this season. He also was their second overall pick during the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, so there is excitement about his arrival.

Alex Turcotte C: Alex Turcotte should be able to make his NHL debut this season. Even if he is not an NHL regular, it would not be too surprising to see him get a few chances at a minimum. In 32 games this season with the Ontario Reign, the 20-year-old scored six goals and recorded 21 points. He also had a fantastic freshmen year with the University of Wisconsin during the 2019-20 season. In 29 games, he scored six goals and had 26 points. Like Byfield, there is a ton of hype following the 2019 fifth overall pick. King fans should expect to catch their first glimpse of him this upcoming season.
