Maple Leafs Auston Matthews Out 2 Months!

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews will be out at least six-to-eight weeks after undergoing wrist surgery, the team announced on Friday.

The superstar sniper dealt with the lingering issue all last season and played through the pain to win the Rocket Richard trophy as the league's top goal scorer. He was training this week and felt discomfort once again and knew it was time to do something about it.

The Leafs open up training camp on September 22, and Matthews is expected to be ready to go for camp. It's a huge year in Toronto as general manager Kyle Dubas' patience is running thin with this core group. The team will only goes as far as their big guns take them in the postseason so Leafs Nation is hoping this surgery can finally put this nagging injury behind the team's best player.
