Minnesota Wild: 2 Players Who Will Bounce Back Next Season
With the off-season starting to slow down a bit, we now have a better idea of every team's roster going into next season. Of course there will be other moves, but the craziness from the Expansion Draft and first day of free agency is officially done.
In this segment, we will be taking a look at two players from each NHL team who are set to bounce back next season. Sometimes players will have down seasons, but end up completely turning it around in the following one. This will inevitably happen for this upcoming year, too.
For this article, we will be discussing the Minnesota Wild. After a surprising return to the postseason, the Wild will now be looking to carry over their success from last season to this upcoming one. They surely will be hoping these two players can have even stronger years this go-around. They have in the past.
Victor Rask C: Victor Rask showed signs of improvement this season. Ever since the 2018-19 season, Rask had noticeably declined in offense, but it seems that his offensive ability is slowing coming back. In 54 games, he scored 10 goals and recorded 23 points. Thus, he does deserve praise, as he only had nine and 13 points the two seasons before. Perhaps with this rise in production, he could once again be a 40-point player like his time with the Carolina Hurricanes.
Matt Dumba D: When the Minnesota Wild bought out Ryan Suter, it guaranteed that Matt Dumba would be protected for the Expansion Draft. Now, the 27-year-old will be back with the team next season and it's good news. However, one has to wonder if his offense will start to go back up again. In 51 games this season, he scored six goals and recorded 21 points. Those aren't bad numbers in the slightest, but he has produced more in the past. During the 2017-18 season, he had 14 goals and 50 points in 82 games. In the following year, he scored a notable 12 goals and recorded 22 points in just 32 games. Keep an eye on him this season. It is likely he will get his points back up.
