New Jersey Devils: 2 Players Who Could Be Dealt Next

The NHL offseason is underway and there's been a ton of movement so far this summer. Along with mega-contracts being handed out and an expansion draft in Seattle, there's been multiple trades that will have huge impacts on the 2021-22 NHL season. Trades will continue this summer and of course into next season, so we shift our focus to the next deal for each franchise.

Follow along as we highlight a couple of players from each team who are most likely to be traded next. Our last piece we went to mile-high with the Colorado Avalanche and for this episode we move to New Jersey and heat things up with the Devils.

2 Devils Most Likely to be Traded Next:

P.K. Subban: Poor Subban has been tied to trade rumors for awhile now and as recently as a couple of weeks ago when Andy Strickland reported the Devils were making calls. With Subban's pending free agency next summer if he doesn't agree to a contract extension by January look for the Devils to try and move on. That's even if he starts the season with Jersey.

Andreas Johnsson: The hard-working Johnsson didn't have a strong first season with the Devils and if the struggles continue in 2021-22, the team could look to move him before his no-trade clause kicks in next summer. In Toronto with the Maple Leafs the crafty winger was on the verge of breaking out into a top-six role but the salary cap got in the way and a trade was made. Now it's his own play that may be getting in the way as Johnsson recorded 11 points in 50 games. At $3.4 million the team expects more and could choose to move on if the numbers continue next season.
