New Jersey Devils Sign Tomas Tatar

The New Jersey Devils are continuing to be busy today. According to PuckPedia, they have signed veteran winger Tomas Tatar to a two-year contract. It will carry a $4.5 million cap hit.

This is a nice signing for the Devils, as it gives them a much-needed top-six winger. Earlier this off-season, we saw New Jersey as a potential fit for Tatar because of this fact. In 50 games this season with the Montreal Canadiens, the 30-year-old scored 10 goals and recorded 30 points. His tenure there ended strangely, though, as he lost his spot in the lineup during their postseason run.

However, Tatar is also just one season removed from a 61-point campaign in just 68 games. With a fresh start in New Jersey, he should very well see his offensive totals jump back up. He also should end up in their top-six and potentially on a line with Jack Hughes and Yegor Sharangovich. He will surely be utilized on their power play, too.

This is a good signing for New Jersey, as it is a short-term deal and could benefit them immensely.

Lastly, Montreal fans, never forget this legendary moment.
