New York Islanders: 2 Players Who Will Bounce Back Next Season

With the off-season starting to slow down a bit, we now have a better idea of every team's roster going into next season. Of course there will be other moves, but the craziness from the Expansion Draft and first day of free agency is officially done.

In this segment, we will be taking a look at two players from each NHL team who are set to bounce back next season. Sometimes players will have down seasons, but end up completely turning it around in the following one. This will inevitably happen for this upcoming year, too.

In this piece, we will be looking at the New York Islanders. Honestly, it is hard to find too many players who struggled with this team. They had another strong year that ended with them being just one win away from the Stanley Cup Final. However, there are two players who they hope will have stronger seasons than their last ones. In fact, one of them is a new guy.

Leo Komarov F: Leo Komarov was certainly effective this season when it came to his hard forechecking and strong defensive play. However, his offensive contributions were a bit lower than normal. In 33 games, the 34-year-old only had a goal and eight points. Two seasons ago, he scored six goals and recorded 26 points in 82 games. Thus, there is reason to believe that he could once again put up a 25 to 30 point season during a full 82-game schedule.

Richard Panik RW: Richard Panik was a part of the Nick Leddy trade with the Detroit Red Wings. This past season was a rough one for the 30-year-old, as he only had four goals and 13 points in 48 games with the Capitals and Red Wings. In 59 games the season before with Washington, he scored nine goals and recorded 22 points. He also had a 33-point season with the Arizona Coyotes during 2018-19. Therefore, he is capable of being a nice depth scorer. With a deeper team like the Islanders, his point totals could very well go back up.
