New York Rangers Sign Goalie to Record Setting Contract!
The New York Rangers aren't messing around and have locked up netminder Igor Shesterkin to a four-year deal worth $5.65 million per season. Turns out this is a historic contract as no goalie has ever gone from their rookie contract to this much money per season.
Hearing Igor Shesterkin's new deal with #NYR is 4 years, $22.666 million. AAV of $5.65 million.

That is the most money ever handed out - in AAV and total dollars - to an NHL goaltender on his second contract.
You can't blame Chris Drury and the Rangers as Shesterkin is the real deal. He'll turn 26 before this year is out and is coming off a season in 2020-21 where he posted a 2.62 GAA in 35 games after playing in 12 games the previous season and posting a 2.52 GAA.
There's no doubt he's the goalie of the future in the Big Apple and with some fresh faces and a new bench boss, the team could turn the corner next season. Big day for the Rangers as if he's able to hit on his potential, he's going to be seriously underpaid!
