New York Rangers To Retire Henrik Lundqvist's Number

Earlier today, Henrik Lundqvist retired from the NHL. Now, the New York Rangers have already announced that they will be retiring his No. 30 this upcoming season. An official date has yet to be confirmed.

This was absolutely expected to happen and it is awesome of the Rangers to announce it so quickly. Lundqvist is one of the best players to ever play for the Blueshirts, so yes, he certainly deserves this honor.

Lundqvist played 887 games with the Rangers, which is simply amazing from a goaltender. He won the Vezina Trophy as the league's top goaltender during the 2012 season, while also being nominated four other times. He was named the New York Rangers' MVP nine times and won the Steven McDonald Extra Effort Award twice with the team. He also sported a 459-310-96 record to go along with a .918 SV% and 2.43 GAA.

It is just amazing to see that this Rangers' legend will be honored so quickly after his career ended. He deserves it and every New York fan should try to see it in person when the official date is announced.
