NHL Owners Approve Jersey Ads for 2022-23 Season
It was simply a matter of time. The NHL owners have approved jersey ads for the 2022-23 season, after we saw helmet ads temporarily on buckets last season.
After retaining ~$100 million in sponsorships via helmet decals last year, the NHL will rollout jersey patches for the 2022-23 season - per @Sportico.

This was only a matter of time — the average NBA team brings in about $5 million annually from their jersey sponsor.
Each team will be able to sell 3 inch to 3.5 inch rectangle spacing on their jerseys, making them essentially just a little bit bigger than a patch. The league has tried for years to figure out ways to generate more revenue for each team and for the league in general and once we saw helmet ads last season, it was inevitable some jersey patches were on the way.
Don't expect it to ever get crazy like some of the European leagues, however this could be the beginning of several different options for the NHL. Expect to see much of the same we saw with the helmet ads, where the owners of the arenas are getting more involved on the jerseys, such as Honda, Capital One and Scotiabank.
NHL fans, how we feeling about jersey ads?
