Ottawa Senators: 2 Players Who Will Bounce Back Next Season

With the off-season starting to slow down a bit, we now have a better idea of every team's roster going into next season. Of course there will be other moves, but the craziness from the Expansion Draft and first day of free agency is officially done.

In this segment, we will be taking a look at two players from each NHL team who are set to bounce back next season. Sometimes players will have down seasons, but end up completely turning it around in the following one. This will inevitably happen for this upcoming year, too.

In this episode, we will be taking a gander at the Ottawa Senators. They are making some progress with their rebuild, but they still are hoping these two players can be a bit stronger for them next season. They surely have the potential to do more, especially when seeing what they've done in the league previously.

Matt Murray G: Matt Murray signed a four-year, $25 million contract as soon as he was acquired by the Ottawa Senators via trade last off-season. He was expected to be their new top-of-the-line goaltender, but things did not go to plan this season. In 27 games, the two-time Stanley Cup winner had a 10-13-1 record and .893 SV%. It was certainly an underwhelming year for him, but when seeing his past success in the league, he should be able to rebound. Expect to see him once again be a reliable starter in this league.

Chris Tierney C: In 55 games this past season, Chris Tierney scored six goals and recorded 19 points. It was a bit of down year for him in terms of production. In 81 games during the 2018-19 season with the Senators, he had 48 points in 81 games. He then followed that up with a 37-point campaign in 71 games. Over an 82-game schedule this season, Tierney would have been on pace for 28 points. That is too low for a player of his ability, so expect to see his offense go back up a bit next season. Seeing him get between 35 to 45 points is not out of the question.
