Ottawa Senators Re-Sign Defenseman Victor Mete
The Ottawa Senators have signed Victor Mete to a one-year, $1.2 million contract. They originally picked him up off waivers from the Montreal Canadiens during this past season.
Mete is still just 23-years-old and has plenty of time to still get better. In 28 games between the two teams, he scored a goal and recorded five points. With the Senators, he was given more opportunities to succeed and that trend will likely continue. Expect to see him at least on their bottom-pair next season.News Release: The #Sens have agreed to terms on a one-year ($1.2M) contract with defenceman Victor Mete for the 2021-22 season: https://t.co/asYLG9cjoP pic.twitter.com/4BQPQSGvGR

For a smaller defenseman, Mete has become quite dependable on the backend and can be utilized on the penalty kill if needed. Although his offensive numbers have not jumped up all that much, he does have the potential to produce more because of his passing ability. Perhaps giving him a chance on the power play next season could be the answer to this.
Regardless, this is a nice signing and Ottawa fans should be happy Mete will be back playing for them next season.
