Penguins GM Comments on Future of Tristan Jarry in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Ron Hextall is getting sick and tired of fans bashing goaltender Tristan Jarry. While the netminder wasn't his best in the Stanley Cup Playoffs earlier this spring, the team isn't giving up hope he's their goalie of the future.

Hextall met with Wes Crosby of NHL.com and had this to say on Jarry's future with the team:

When you're a goaltender, and I've lived it, there's disappointments that you have to get over and you have to bounce back from. I feel strongly that (Jarry is) going to bounce back and be a very good goaltender for us throughout the entire year.

Jarry is 26 and signed for two more seasons at a very reasonable $3.5 million on the cap. While his past two regular seasons have been pretty solid, Jarry struggled during the postseason, posting an .888 save percentage and league-worst minus-5.72 goals saved above average in six games.

Hextall has fired the Penguins goaltender coach and replaced them ex-NHL tender Andy Chiodo who he hopes can work with Jarry to get his mental side of the game in check. Hearing the vote of confidence should help ease the nerves heading into next season.
