Philadelphia Flyers Extend Young Goaltender

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed goaltender Carter Hart to a three-year extension. It will have an average annual value of $3.979 million.

After starting his NHL career with two splendid seasons, Hart struggled immensely this past year. During this past season, he sported a 9-11-5 record to go along with a 3.67 GAA and .877 SV%. This was immensely surprising, as he was lights out previously. Thus, it is fair to state that it was a disappointing year for the kid.

Yet, hope is not lost for the 22-year-old goaltender, as he is still quite young. In fact, when seeing as how well he played his first two seasons, he should have no trouble rebounding. The Flyers also made it a point this off-season to switch up their defense. Adding both Ryan Ellis and Rasmus Ristolainen certainly should make their backend a lot stronger. Therefore, Hart will benefit from this.

Overall, this is an affordable contract and could even end up being a steal if Hart finds his previous form.
