Philadelphia Flyers Sign Derick Brassard

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed veteran forward Derick Brassard to a one-year, $825,000 contract. This is now Brassard's ninth NHL team.

In 53 games last season with the Arizona Coyotes, Brassard scored eight goals and recorded 20 points. He is no longer the top-six center he was during his prime years, but he could be a nice addition for the team's third-line. It also means that they have another option if prospect Morgan Frost does not seem ready for the NHL this season.

When looking at the cap hit, this is honestly a steal for the Flyers. Brassard will provide them with decent depth scoring and is still effective in the bottom-six. There is no reason to complain about it.

In 905 career NHL games with the Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins, Florida Panthers, Colorado Avalanche, New York Islanders and Coyotes, Brassard has 194 goals, 309 assists and 503 points.
