Rumor: Sabres Reject Golden Knights Trade Offer for Jack Eichel

The Buffalo Sabres are apparently dealing with three teams at the moment, trying to find a suitor for their captain Jack Eichel. Trade talks continue and the back and forth may be starting to get old at this point. One team the Sabres are in contact with is the Vegas Golden Knights and rumor has the Golden Knights sending an offer to Buffalo, just for general manager Kevyn Adams to decline and ask for way more.

According to a report from Adam Gertz of NBC, the Golden Knights offer included Reilly Smith, prospect Peyton Krebs, defenseman Nicolas Hague and a first-round pick. Buffalo politely declined and it may have had something to do with the fact Vegas wanted Buffalo to retain as much salary as possible on the trade.

It seems like the Sabres have made one thing clear this offseason, they are rebuilding and not afraid to trade all their veterans for young talent. They don't appear interested in retaining any salary on Eichel, and you can't really blame them there. If Vegas wants to land the big fish, they will need to fork up four pieces and have the cap space to make the addition. For now, Eichel remains in Buffalo where he has ZERO interest in playing hockey next season.
