San Jose Sharks: 2 Breakout Candidates For Next Season

With each season that passes, it seems as though every team has players who improve significantly. They often turn out to be prospects naturally, but players who have some experience in the league also can. In this segment, we will be looking at two potential breakout candidates from each team. We will also be setting a max age limit of 26 years old, so older players are not eligible for discussion.

In our last piece, we looked at the Los Angeles Kings. Now, let's focus on the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks are looking to improve after another rough season. These two players are definitely worth paying attention. One is young defenseman who is very underrated, while the other is a recently acquired goaltender looking to become a starter.

Mario Ferraro D: Mario Ferraro is somebody who NHL fans should get to know more this upcoming season. In 56 games this past season, the 22-year-old scored a goal and recorded 17 points. When looking at the way the team's current defensive group, there is a real shot that he will be given a lot of playing time this go-around. This is a player who has the potential to grow into a real top-four defenseman and should take that step this season.

Adin Hill G: Adin Hill was acquired from the Arizona Coyotes this off-season. He will be forming a respectable tandem with James Reimer. The 25-year-old goaltender has only 49 career games under his belt, but looked strong last season. In 19 games, he had a 9-9-1 record to go along with a .913 SV%. In San Jose, he will be playing much more and should be able to perform even better. This will be the year that he cements himself as a legitimate starting goaltender in this league.
