San Jose Sharks: 2 Players Most Likely to Get Traded Next Season
The NHL offseason is underway and there's been a ton of movement so far this summer. Along with mega-contracts being handed out and an expansion draft in Seattle, there's been multiple trades that will have huge impacts on the 2021-22 NHL season. Trades will continue this summer and of course into next season, so we shift our focus to the next deal for each franchise.
Follow along as we highlight a couple of players from each team who are most likely to be traded next season. Our last stop was in the sunshine state to visit in with the Florida Panthers, and today we head back to California to check in with the San Jose Sharks.
2 Sharks Most Likely Getting Traded Next Season:
Evander Kane: Kane's teammates don't want him back and management has been trying for weeks to make it happen. So far, no deal and the trade talks continue. At last season's exit interviews several players were honest and let the team know they weren't interested playing with Kane any longer and had seen enough of his antics. This will be interesting to watch as he has four seasons left on his contract paying him $7 million a year. While he's a headache, he can score, so it's only a matter of time before someone takes a gamble.
Erik Karlsson: With six seasons left on his deal paying him $11.5 million, the only way the Sharks deal with Swedish defender is if they eat 15% of his contract. That could potentially take place if the team struggles next season and Karlsson is playing half decent. Last season he tallied 22 points in 52 games, however the two seasons before he recorded over 40 points and showed flashes of his brilliance from his Ottawa Senators days. If Karlsson is dealt, the team will not only have to eat some of his contract, the Sharks will need to add in a couple of sweeteners to get him off their books.
