Seattle Kraken: 2 Players Who Will Bounce Back Next Season

With the off-season starting to slow down a bit, we now have a better idea of every team's roster going into next season. Of course there will be other moves, but the craziness from the Expansion Draft and first day of free agency is officially done.

In this segment, we will be taking a look at two players from each NHL team who are set to bounce back next season. Sometimes players will have down seasons, but end up completely turning it around in the following one. This will inevitably happen for this upcoming year, too.

In this piece, we will be focusing on the league's newest team, the Seattle Kraken. They made a lot of low risks additions through the draft, as they passed on big-names like Vladimir Tarasenko, Carey Price and Jakub Voracek. They also were quite active when it came to free agency. All of this will make them a fun team to pay attention to next season, as they have a lot of overall depth. There are two players they have added who should be able to also rebound in Seattle.

Jaden Schwartz LW: On the first day of free agency, the Kraken signed Jaden Schwartz to a five-year, $27.5 million contract. He certainly will be given the chance to thrive there, as he is one of the best players for their inaugural season. Yet, he also is coming off of a bit of a down year offensively. In 40 games, the 29-year-old forward had eight goals and 21 points. In an 82-game schedule, he was on pace for 42 points. Thus, this was a bit low for his standards. He just came off a 57-point campaign in 71 games the previous season. He has hit the 50-point plateau on five separate occasions, so that is what we should expect from him yet again next season.

Marcus Johansson F: Marcus Johansson is a very good player to have around, as he can play all three forward positions at the NHL level. In 36 games this season with the Minnesota Wild, the 30-year-old scored six goals and recorded 14 points. That was far less production than usual for him. Keep in mind, in 60 games with the Buffalo Sabres the season before, he had 30 points. He also has gotten at least 40 points in five NHL seasons. Had he stayed healthy more often, that total would be higher, too. In Seattle, he should be given a chance in their top-six. If he does not get injured, this fact could make his offensive totals jump right back up next season.
