Seattle Kraken: 2 Prospects Who Could Make The Team Next Season
Having a strong prospect pool is such an important thing, as it helps determine the future success of all NHL franchises. Although it is always nice to be competitive now, things changes rapidly and it truly is a young man's league. Therefore, it feels right to start a 32-team segment covering them. During it, we will be looking at two prospects from every NHL franchise who could become NHLers next season.
With this article, we will be looking at the league's newest team, the Seattle Kraken. They may not have brought in many big-names at the Expansion Draft, but they have a lot of NHL-caliber players to choose from. However, they also have some prospects who should be able to get some playing time this upcoming season.
One thing to note, second overall pick Matty Beniers has yet to sign his entry-level contract, so he will not be discussed in this list. Based on previous comments, it seems that he will be playing this year back at the University of Michigan. However, these two other prospects are still worth noting.
Kole Lind RW: Kole Lind is a skilled player who has yet to become an NHL regular. However, he had a strong, but short season with the Utica Comets this year. In eight games, he scored five goals and recorded eight points. He also suited up in seven NHL games this season, but failed to record a point. In 2019-20, he had a 44-point campaign in 61 games at the AHL level. He certainly should be given some NHL time this season, especially when injuries occur. At just 22-years-old, there is room for further improvement, too.
Carsen Twarynski LW: The Seattle Kraken made a surprising pick from the Philadelphia Flyers, as they chose young winger Carsen Twarynski. They passed on recently traded Jakub Voracek and James van Riemsdyk in the process. However, Twarynski could fight his way into their bottom-six with a strong camp. In his career thus far, the 23-year-old has played 22 games and has scored a goal. He seems like a potential depth forward for them.
Honorable Mentions: Defensemen Will Borgen and Cale Fleury also should get some NHL time this season. However, with how strong the Kraken's depth is on the backend, it seems unlikely that they will make their top-six.
