Seattle Kraken Sign Veteran Depth Defenseman
The Seattle Kraken have added another player to their strong defensive group. They have signed defenseman Connor Carrick to a one-year, two-way contract. It will carry a $800,000 cap hit at the NHL level.
With the Kraken, Carrick will likely not be in their top-six, but will rather be one of their depth defenseman. This is a role that he is quite used to, as he spent a lot of his professional hockey career switching between the NHL and AHL.
In 11 games this past season with the New Jersey Devils, Carrick scored a goal and recorded two points. He also played 13 games with their AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Devils, and had six assists. It will not be very surprising if he finds himself playing some games in the AHL next season, too.
In 241 career NHL games, Carrick has scored 13 goals and produced 49 points. His best year was during the 2017-18 season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, as he scored four goals and registered 12 points in 47 games.
Alas, this is a nice depth move by the Kraken, as they are continuing to improve their defense.
