St. Louis Blues: 2 Prospects Who Could Make The Team Next Season

Having a strong prospect pool is such an important thing, as it helps determine the future success of all NHL franchises. Although it is always nice to be competitive now, things changes rapidly and it truly is a young man's league. Therefore, it feels right to start a 32-team segment covering them. During it, we will be looking at two prospects from every NHL franchise who could become NHL regulars next season.

In this specific article, we will be focusing on the St. Louis Blues. The Blues have gone through some major changes to their roster this off-season. They have lost Jaden Schwartz and Mike Hoffman to free agency, but also replaced them by trading for Pavel Buchnevich and signing Brandon Saad. However, they also still have some interesting prospects who could make the jump next season.

Klim Kostin F: Now seems like the perfect time for Klim Kostin to get his first prolonged chance with the Blues. Over the last two seasons, he has suited up in six total NHL games and recorded an assist. He spent some time this season on a loan with Avangard Omsk of the KHL. With them, he played 43 games and produced 18 points. His size and physical play could make him a nice addition to the Blues' bottom-six moving forward. He also was their 2017 first-round pick after all, so he should be utilized next season.

Scott Perunovich D: Scott Perunovich missed this whole season due to injury. However, in 2019-20, he had an excellent season with the University of Minnesota-Duluth, as he scored six goals and recorded 40 points in just 34 games. Keep in mind, he is a defenseman. If he is able to recover well this off-season, he could fight his way to the bottom-pair of the Blues' lineup. At a minimum, though, he should at least get limited action this season. He has the potential to be a solid offensive defenseman for them, even if it ends up being later down the line.
