Team Canada Names Star-Studded Coaching Staff
If the NHL is heading to the Olympics in 2022, Team Canada will be prepared as ever. Hockey Canada has officially named Tampa Bay Lightning head coach Jon Cooper as the team's bench boss and have surrounded him with a cast of experienced coaches.
Along with the back-to-back Stanley Cup coach, Cooper will be potentially joined by Bruce Cassidy, Peter DeBoer, and Barry Trotz, to round out some serious experience behind the bench for Team Canada. There is certainly no shortage of experience in high-leverage situations when it comes to the group.
The roster will be constructed by St Louis Blues general manager Doug Armstrong who has the tough choice of leaving some NHL all-stars off the roster. Armstrong will receive help from the likes of Ken Holland, Ron Francis and Don Sweeney to assemble the roster.
Now we wait for the official announcement to come from the NHL as it remains unknown if the league's players will be competing. Back in 2018 at PyeongChang, the NHL did not go, and Canada only won bronze.
