New York Islanders: 2 Players Who Could Be Traded Next Season

The NHL offseason is underway and there's been a ton of movement so far this summer. Along with mega-contracts being handed out and an expansion draft in Seattle, there's been multiple trades that will have huge impacts on the 2021-22 NHL season. Trades will continue this summer and of course into next season, so we shift our focus to the next deal for each franchise.

Follow along as we highlight a couple of players from each team who are most likely to be traded next. Our last episode we showcased a couple of Dallas Stars and for this piece, we head to Long Island and check in on the New York Islanders

2 Islanders Most Likely Getting Traded Next Season:

Josh Bailey: The Islanders left Bailey exposed to the Seattle Kraken and the expansion team chose Jordan Eberle instead. Bailey is due $5 million for the next three seasons and he's one of the only core forwards for the Islanders who doesn't hold trade protection. There's a good chance Bailey is dealt before his contract expires in New York.

Leo Komarov: The Islanders would love to move the pesky winger but at this point the market is very slim considering the price tag. The 34-year-old is in the final season of his contract paying him $3 million and holds no-trade protection against seven teams. Eight points in 33 games solidifies the fact Komarov is only suited for a checking role and if the Islanders want to move him, they will certainly have to eat some of the remaining salary on his expiring contract.
