Toronto Maple Leafs: 2 Players Most Likely to be Traded

The NHL offseason is underway and there's been a ton of movement so far this summer. Along with mega-contracts being handed out and an expansion draft in Seattle, there's been multiple trades that will have huge impacts on the 2021-22 NHL season. Trades will continue this summer and of course into next season, so we shift our focus to the next deal for each franchise.

Follow along as we highlight a couple of players from each team who are most likely to be traded next season. Last article we soared with the Winnipeg Jets and this time around we move slightly east to drop in with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

2 Maple Leafs Most Likely Getting Traded Next Season:

Morgan Rielly: The veteran Maple Leaf is in the final season of his contract and it's going to be very tough for the Leafs to fit in Rielly long term. He's going to get a huge raise from his $5 million per season and it's likely the Leafs don't want to watch him walk away for nothing, much like Zach Hyman just did. Rielly is likely headed for Team Canada's Olympic team in 2022, there's going to be a huge market for his services.

Travis Dermott: Dealing Dermott is going to come down to a number of things including the progression of Rasmus Sandin and Timothy Liljegren. Dermott is signed for two more seasons at $1.5 million, which certainly holds some value on the trade market. You can basically put it in stone that either Dermott or Rielly gets dealt at some point this season.
