Toronto Maple Leafs: 2 Players Who Will Bounce Back Next Season

With the off-season starting to slow down a bit, we now have a better idea of every team's roster going into next season. Of course there will be other moves, but the craziness from the Expansion Draft and first day of free agency is officially done.

In this segment, we will be taking a look at two players from each NHL team who are set to bounce back next season. Sometimes players will have down seasons, but end up completely turning it around in the following one. This will inevitably happen for this upcoming year, too.

In this piece, we will be looking at the Toronto Maple Leafs. Although their season certainly did not end the way they wanted it to, a lot of their current players had good years. These two players should have stronger regular seasons, as they are capable of it. One had a very strong postseason, so he will be looking to build off that and find his past offensive rhythm. The other is a newcomer who spent a lot of time injured last season.

Alexander Kerfoot C: In 56 games this season, Alexander Kerfoot had eight goals and recorded 23 points. He was rightfully praised for his defensive play, but when looking at his previous offensive success with the Colorado Avalanche, one has to wonder if he will produce more. He had two 40-point campaigns with Colorado before joining the Leafs and has not really come close to that. When viewing his postseason, though, one has to assume he can get right back to that level of offense. He was one of the only bright spots of their disappointing playoff run, as he had six points in seven games.

Ondrej Kase RW: Ondrej Kase had an extremely rough season. Due to concussion symptoms, he was limited to just three games with the Boston Bruins. He also was held without a point in them. In fact,, he would only played nine regular season games as Bruin and did not score a single goal. Thus, it was just a bad tenure in Boston for him. However, Kase also has been a solid goal-scorer when healthy during his career. If he is fully good to go and stays that way, he could very well be a nice surprise for the Leafs this season. He will have a lot of talent around him to succeed.
