Toronto Maple Leafs And Buffalo Sabres May Play Outdoor Game
According to Mike Harrington of the The Buffalo News, the Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres may play in this year's NHL Heritage Classic.
The goal would be to play it on March 13th, 2022. Originally, the pair were scheduled to play an afternoon game at KeyBank Center, but it was removed from the Sabres' season tickets options. If a game does come into fruition, it would take place at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario.
The most recent Heritage Classic was in October of the 2019-20 season. The Winnipeg Jets and Calgary Flames faced off, with the former winning 2-1. It was at Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan. If one occurs this season, it will be the sixth in its history. It also would be both Toronto and Buffalo's first time participating in the event. Furthermore, Buffalo would be the first American team to do so.
We will see what happens, but it would be so cool to see these two teams play outside.
