Winnipeg Jets: 2 Players Most Likely to Be Traded
The NHL offseason is underway and there's been a ton of movement so far this summer. Along with mega-contracts being handed out and an expansion draft in Seattle, there's been multiple trades that will have huge impacts on the 2021-22 NHL season. Trades will continue this summer and of course into next season, so we shift our focus to the next deal for each franchise.
Follow along as we highlight a couple of players from each team who are most likely to be traded next season. Last time around we focused in on the Vegas Golden Knights, for today's piece we head North to the Winnipeg Jets.
2 Jets Most Likely Getting Traded Next Season:
Dylan DeMelo: The right-handed defenseman is signed for three more seasons at a reasonable $3 million per, and would certainly generate a lot of interest on the open market. There were some talks the Seattle Kraken were going to select DeMelo, however they went a different route. Last season DeMelo recorded nine points in 52 games including no goals. Don't expect much production as he has scored four goals total since the 2017-18 season. Look for he and Logan Stanley to provide a shut down pair for the Jets next season.
Ville Heinola: If the Jets go for it this season, expect a hockey trade at some point to improve their forward group or to land a veteran defenseman with term on his contract. Heinola is still only 20 years old and is considered one of the best defensive prospects in the game. He may be flipped this season for someone who is proven in the NHL and under contract for a couple of seasons. Don't expect to see him included in a deal for a rental.
