Winnipeg Jets: 2 Players Who Will Bounce Back Next Season

With the off-season starting to slow down a bit, we now have a better idea of every team's roster going into next season. Of course there will be other moves, but the craziness from the Expansion Draft and first day of free agency is officially done.

In this series, we will be taking a look at two players from each NHL team who are set to bounce back next season. Sometimes players will have down seasons, but end up completely turning it around in the following one. This will inevitably happen for this upcoming year, too. With this piece, we will be focusing on the Winnipeg Jets.

Winnipeg has a solid roster, but they need these two players to step it up next season if they hope to go on a real postseason run. These players are capable of producing more, so keep a close eye on them this upcoming season.

Pierre-Luc Dubois F: After being traded from the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Winnipeg Jets, Pierre-Luc Dubois struggled a bit. In 41 regular season games with the team, he scored eight goals and recorded 20 points. He also only had one assists in five games with Columbus before being traded. In a full 82-game schedule, Dubois would have been on pace for just 38 points this season. That is lower than all of his other seasons in the league. His best year came in 2018-19, as he scored 27 goals and had 61 points in 82 games. That is the type of production Winnipeg wants from him. He is just 23-years-old, so he certainly should be able to do it again.

Nate Schmidt D: The Winnipeg Jets acquired defenseman Nate Schmidt from the Vancouver Canucks earlier this off-season. This past season was a hard one for the 30-year-old, as he only had 15 points in 54 games. However, in the three seasons before with the Vegas Golden Knights, he hit the 30-point plateau in each of them. Schmidt should be able to turn it around in Winnipeg, as the fit simply was not there with the Canucks. He has a nice group of forwards to distribute the puck to, so his point totals are likely to go back up.
