Winnipeg Jets Extend Former First-Round Pick

The Winnipeg Jets have signed defenseman Logan Stanley to a two-year, $1.8 million cap hit. It will have an average annual value of $900,000.

Stanley just played his rookie season with the Jets this past year after spending two years in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose. In 37 regular season games with the Jets, he scored a goal and recorded four points. He also did quite well during the postseason, as he scored two goals and recorded three points in just eight games. They will be looking for more of that production next season.

The 6'7" defenseman certainly does not shy away from the physical side of the game, so it is nice that they are keeping him around on the blueline. The 23-year-old was taken by the Jets in the first round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft and is finally cementing himself a spot in this league.

Stanley will likely play bottom-pair minutes again next season and continue to be a steady defensive defenseman moving forward.
