Winnipeg Jets Sign Andrew Copp To Extension
The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Andrew Copp to a one-year, $3.64 million contract.
Copp is coming off of the best season of his career thus far. He set career highs in goals, assists and points. In 55 total games, he scored 15 goals and had 39 total points. He is becoming more of an offensive threat, so it is great that the Jets were able to sign him to a new deal.Andrew Copp and WIN reach one-year, $3.64M extension

However, the one down side to it is that it is only for one year. Copp will now be eligible for unrestricted free agency next summer, so the risk of losing him is potentially high. Thankfully, though, the Jets will continue to have him a strong middle-six forward for them this season. He also should continue to receive both penalty kill and power play time.
We will see how Copp performs this upcoming season. If he has another strong one, he could land himself a hefty contract on the open market next off-season.
