2 Potential Trade Destinations for Maple Leafs' Mikheyev
The Toronto Maple Leafs found out forward Ilya Mikheyev wanted out at the end of last season and regardless, the team is looking to mend the relationship heading into 2021-22. If it doesn't work, a trade will go down and Mikheyev will get his wish. Here's two teams who could be in play for a trade:
Los Angeles Kings
The Maple Leafs and Kings are no strangers to trades, and more specifically involving depth wingers. The likes of Trevor Moore and Carl Grundstrom have worked out nicely for LA and they could have some interest in Mikheyev who plays a similar style. The soon-to-be 27-year-old works hard, can move up and down the lineup and he could very well end up finishing the season in California.
Calgary Flames
The Flames know Mikheyev very well and have interest in the Maple Leafs forward. Calgary is looking for more depth up front and could be a good match for Toronto. A player like grinder Brett Richie is someone the Maple Leafs have on their radar, along with physical defenseman Nikita Zadorov. If the Maple Leafs end up moving Mikheyev, expect to see the Flames right in the mix.
