3 Potential Trade Destinations for Jesperi Kotkaniemi
The Montreal Canadiens only have a couple more days to make up their minds when it comes to the future of Jesperi Kotkaniemi, as the Carolina Hurricanes are currently enjoying some sweet revenge. While there's a small chance they let the young center head to Carolina, it's more likely if Montreal doesn't match, they eventually trade their former first-round pick.
3 Potential Trade Destinations for Kotkaniemi Next Summer:
Detroit Red Wings: This seems like one of those savvy moves Red Wings general manager Steve Yzerman would be willing to pull off, and next thing you know Kotkaniemi turns into a legit number one center in Motown. The Wings have the cap space and young assets to make a deal work, so at this time they're definitely one of the favorites to get involved.
Minnesota Wild: The Wild have been looking for a number one center for a few years now and perhaps they take a shot at handing Kotkaniemi the keys to play with Kirill Kaprizov. Only one problem is Wild general manager Bill Guerin is still trying to sign Kaprizov. However, the Wild have been in contact with the Canadiens and the two teams continue to have dialogue.
Columbus Blue Jackets: After the Jackets got fleeced by the Canadiens in the Domi/Anderson swap, perhaps this isn't something Columbus contemplates. The Blue Jackets are desperate for a young center with tons of potential and having a fellow Finland native on the roster, could set up for a dynamic duo of Kotkaniemi and Patrik Laine.
