Alex Stalock Unlikely To Play This Season
According to Edmonton Oilers general manager Ken Holland, goaltender Alex Stalock is expected to miss the 2021-22 season because of a COVID-related heart condition. Stalock missed all of last season due to developing myocarditis from COVID-19 in November of last year.
Had Stalock been healthy for the season, he would have competed for the backup job against Mikko Koskinen. He certainly would have had a good shot of beating him out, too. During the 2019-20 season with the Minnesota Wild, he had a 20-11-4 record and .910 SV%. Koskinen, on the other hand, had an .899 SV% in 26 games this past season. From Ken Holland: unfortunately, Alex Stalock unlikely to play due to COVID-related heart condition. Very tough to hear (1/2)….

This awful news about Stalock makes it even more understandable as to why the Oilers are looking for another goaltender, like we reported earlier today.
Nonetheless, we'd like to send our best wishes to Alex and hope he gets healthy soon. You hate to see this kind of stuff.
