Arizona Coyotes: 2 Underrated Players To Watch

The NHL has so many underrated players who deserve far more recognition. In this segment, we will be discussing two from every team in the league. Their overall roles and abilities may differ, but they all share the common theme that they are not as respected as they ought to be.

For full transparency, two teams will be randomly picked from a wheel each day. The winners will then be discussed.

In this piece, we will be looking at the Arizona Coyotes. Although they have traded away many of their top players this off-season, they do have a few underrated ones who are worth noting. It is apparent that the team is embracing their rebuild, but these two are very interesting players for them.

Nick Schmaltz C: Nick Schmaltz is a very solid hockey player, but he does not get as much recognition as he deserves. A big reason behind this is likely because of the fact that he is not playing for a big market team. This past season was a solid one for the 25-year-old center, as he had 10 goals and recorded 32 points. He has the ability to hit 50 points when playing 82 games, which is certainly acceptable from a second-liner. If he remains healthy this season, he has the ability to set new career-highs.

Dmitrij Jaškin LW: Dmitrij Jaškin was an under-the-radar signing by the Coyotes this off-season. The 28-year-old winger played his last NHL season with the Washington Capitals. With them, he scored two goals and had eight points in 37 games. Yet, he dominated the KHL these last two seasons and should be far better in his second stint in the NHL. He had 63 points in 58 games with Dynamo Moscow his first year with the team. He then followed that up with an impressive 38 goals and 60 points in 59 games. It will be interesting to see how much his success in Russia translate to Arizona.
