Boston Bruins Re-Sign Zach Senyshyn

The Boston Bruins have re-signed Zach Senyshyn to a one-year, two-way deal. It will pay him $750,000 at the NHL level.

The Bruins went off the board and selected Senyshyn with the 15th overall selection of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. They passed on players like Mathew Barzal, Kyle Connor and Thomas Chabot for Senyshyn and in hindsight, it's safe to say it was a bad move. Those three have blossomed into stars, while Senyshyn is still trying to cement himself as an NHLer. The Bruins also picked Jakub Zboril and Jake DeBrusk ahead them, too.

In eight games with the Bruins this past season, he was held off the scoresheet. He also was an alternate captain for the Providence Bruins and had 13 points in 18 games. It was a noticeable increase in production, as he was on pace to crush his previous career-high of 26 points with Providence, had it been a full season.

Senyshyn will competing for a spot on Boston this season, but it's not going to be easy. The Bruins have experienced NHLers who are ahead of him on the depth chart. It's hard to believe that he would be able to beat out Chris Wagner or Curtis Lazar for a spot in the bottom-six.

However, we will have to wait and see what transpires this year with Senyshyn. If he has a very strong camp, perhaps he could be an extra forward for the team.
