Brutal News for the Red Wings as Training Camp Begins
The Detroit Red Wings had to wait a couple extra days while forward Jakub Vrana worked out his visa issues. While his skill set is always worth the wait, Vrana ended up getting injured 10 minutes into practice and left the ice.
The early reports are it's a shoulder injury and if it's serious, it's going to be a long season in Motown.
Jeff Blashill said Jakub Vrana injured his shoulder shortly into his first practice at Red Wings camp. Will be evaluated. Just arrived after visa issue.

Vrana is supposed to be a huge part of the team's offense. He signed a three-year deal worth $5.25 million per season this past summer and is coming off a year where he put up 11 points in 11 games with the Red Wings after joining the team via trade from the Washington Capitals.
The Red Wings are hoping to take the next step this season and get back to contending for a playoff spot in 2021-22. They'll need Vrana to be on the ice and producing if they want any chance. He's expected to be reevaluated on Sunday and an announcement will follow shortly after. Not the way they wanted things to start in Motown.
