Chicago Blackhawks: 2 Breakout Candidates For Next Season
With each season that passes, it seems as though every team has players who improve significantly. They often turn out to be prospects naturally, but players who have some experience in the league also can. In this segment, we will be looking at two potential breakout candidates from each team. We will also be setting a max age limit of 26 years old, so older players are not eligible for discussion.
In this piece, we will be looking at the Chicago Blackhawks. They had themselves a very eventful off-season. Some of their notable additions include Marc-Andre Fleury, Seth Jones and Tyler Johnson. Although it's exciting that they are joining the team, Chicago fans should also pay attention to these two breakout candidates.
Kirby Dach C: Kirby Dach is the most obvious breakout candidate on the Chicago Blackhawks and must be addressed. He may have been limited to just 18 games this past season, but in them, he had two goals and recorded 10 points. If he remains healthy this season, he should be a very solid contributor for Chicago. He is expected to be in their top-six, especially with the departure of Pius Suter. The 20-year-old center is just getting his career started and should improve significantly this season. He already is quite good.
Alexander Nylander RW: Due to injury, Alexander Nylander missed the entirety of this season. It was disappointing, as he just showed notable improvement in his first season with Chicago the year before. In 65 games, he scored 10 goals and recorded 26 points. It was his first prolonged shot in the NHL and it will be interesting to see how he does this go-around. The 23-year-old winger has the skill to be solid and showed signs of getting closer to his potential. If fully healed, the 2016 eighth overall pick could take that next step this upcoming season and blossom into a top-six forward.
