Colorado Avalanche Sign Veteran Jack Johnson To PTO
The Colorado Avalanche have signed defenseman Jack Johnson to a Professional Tryout (PTO) contract. The 34-year-old defenseman is hoping to impress at camp and have the opportunity to play his 16th NHL season.
With the New York Rangers last season, Johnson suited up in 13 games and had a goal. When looking at the Avalanche's depth on the backend, it is clear that he has a bit of an uphill battle to make their top-six. However, if he is signed to an NHL deal, he could end up being a potential 7th or even 8th defenseman for them. With how often injuries occur in this league, it is never a bad thing to have a lot of insurance.#Avs have signed d-man Jack Johnson to a PTO.

Johnson also comes with a ton of overall experience. In 950 career NHL games with the Los Angeles Kings, Columbus Blue Jackets, Pittsburgh Penguins and Rangers, he has 71 goals, 232 assists and 303 points.
We will have to wait and see if Johnson does well enough to earn a contract with Colorado. You never know, another team could also offer him a deal if his play grabs their attention, too.
