Columbus Blue Jackets: 2 Trade Rumors Following the Team
The Columbus Blue Jackets enter the 2021-22 season with a new head coach and some new expectations. The team continues to be active and willing to make additional moves to upgrade their roster. Let's dive into two trade rumors that have been following the Blue Jackets this summer.
Max Domi Being Moved This Season
Domi underwent surgery to repair his shoulder and is expected to miss the first few months of the season. It's been quite the couple of years for Domi as a trade from Montreal hasn't really worked out so far, and he was left exposed to the Seattle Kraken expansion draft. Domi is expected back before the trade deadline and expect a deal to go down once he's healthy and producing.
Goalie Trade on the Way
Both Elvis Merzlikins and Joonas Korpisalo head into 2021-22 as pending free-agents and there's no doubt one is getting moved. Korpisalo has been linked to the Edmonton Oilers and Detroit Red Wings and the 27-year-old could potentially finish the season with one of those two clubs. If it's Merzlikins, he's also been linked to those two destinations on top of the Buffalo Sabres. While it won't be right away this season, expect one of the netminders to be moved sometime before the trade deadline. As soon as a starting goalie goes down, look for them to give the Blue Jackets a call.
