Columbus Blue Jackets: 3 Players With Expiring Contracts

With the off-season almost completed, it feels right to take a preview into next year's. In this segment, we will be looking at three players from each team who have expiring contracts. Both restricted and unrestricted free agents are eligible for discussion.

In this piece, we will be focusing on the Columbus Blue Jackets. They have a lot of decisions to make next summer, as a plethora of key players have expiring deals.

Patrik Laine LW (RFA): Patrik Laine is the most popular name with an expiring contract on the Columbus Blue Jackets. Yet, he struggled a lot after being traded there from the Winnipeg Jets last season. In 45 games with Columbus, he scored 10 goals and had 21 points. He is set to make $7.5 million this season and needs to have that bounce-back year that everyone knows he's capable of. If he does, he could get a long-term deal with Columbus.

Jack Roslovic C (RFA): So far, Jack Roslovic has been the best part of the trade with the Jets. With Winnipeg, he was never given the chance to play in the top-six for an extended period time. With the Blue Jackets, he took full advantage of his opportunities, as he had 12 goals and 34 points in 48 games. The Columbus native could end up being a huge part of the core moving forward. His next contract should reflect that.

Max Domi C/LW (UFA): Max Domi was in the rumor mill this off-season, but a deal did not occur. With him being an unrestricted free agent and the Blue Jackets expected to not be playoff contenders, he could end up being a rental at the trade deadline. In 54 games last season, he scored nine goals and had 24 points.

Honorable Mention: Adam Boqvist (RFA), Joonas Korpisalo (UFA)
